The basketball quilt you'll be happy to display all season long

With basketball season in full-swing this time of year, I am excited to release my first FREE quilt pattern: The Fastbreak Quilt. The Fastbreak Quilt is a wall-hanging size quilt (finished size 30"x30") you can hang proudly in your home all season long. (Grab your copy by signing up for my newsletter on my website if you haven't already!)

Perfect for the basketball player, fan or end-of-season gift for your favorite coach, this pattern invites you to "play" with your creativity in order to personalize the quilt top.

The design showcases a basketball, with a traditional quilt block feel, that is in mid-air on it's way to the "rim" in the lower right hand corner. This is where your artistic interpretation and creativity really comes into play. The entire bottom right hand corner is the space reserved for the "hoop." But where is the net? This part of the design is where you can play with different techniques to show the "net." Some examples I experimented with include:

1. Double cross-hatch 1/4" machine quilting lines

2. Double cross-hatch 1/4" machine quilting lines AND hand quilted straight stitching

3. And my personal favorite: using Chenille-It

The possibilities are endless and you can see these finishing options as well as more suggestions on this blog post. What creative touch will you add to your Fastbreak Quilt?
