The Soccer Party Quilt: A Complete Guide

How long have you been searching for that perfect soccer quilt pattern? Too long?

Well, good news...I'm here to tell you that you've finally found it!

The Soccer Party Quilt is a modern design based on the iconic soccer ball with just the right amount of color mixed in to make it personal and fun. Amongst the black and white of the soccer ball is "confetti"created by snowball corners in the blocks. If you've ever been to a soccer match, you've seen how it can be one big party in the stands. And now you know why this quilt pattern is called "Soccer Party" :)

The Soccer Party quilt pattern will be available for purchase on March 8th, 2024. You can always find all patterns using the link below.

The Basics

This pattern includes instructions for four sizes: Baby, Throw, Twin and Queen and is for the

confident beginner quilter who has experience with half rectangle triangles (HRTs) and snowball corners.

Not so sure about the HRTs? Even if you've never tried making half rectangle triangles before, I've included step-by-step video instruction to walk through the entire process, start to finish.

Did I mention how quickly this quilt comes together? With large 18.5" x 12.5" unfinished blocks, once your HRTs are ready to go, the rest of the pattern is a chain-piecer's dream.

Ready to get started? Check out the fabric requirements below including some helpful tips about fabric selection.

Fabric Requirements

As noted in the fabric requirements above, Colors 3-14 will be cut into 2.5" squares. You may choose to use any of the following for these colors to achieve two different yet similar looks.

To follow the pattern and cover quilt, with an "organized scrappy" look, choose either:

  1. Yardage (12 - 1/4 yard cuts)

  2. A Fat Eighth or Fat Quarter Bundle of 12 colors

For a truly scrappy option, you will need the following number of 2.5" squares per size:

  • Baby - 24

  • Throw - 60

  • Twin - 128

  • Queen - 160

For the scrappy option, some choices would be:

  1. One jelly roll of your favorite fabrics. One jelly roll will work for all sizes. You will have more leftover 2.5" strips the smaller the size of the quilt you make.

  2. Mini charm packs of 2.5" squares. Charm packs typically consist of 42 2.5" squares so you would need the following number of mini charm packs per size: Baby - 1, Throw - 2, Twin - 4 , Queen - 4.

  3. Your scraps! This is a perfect way to use up some of those scraps laying around in your sewing room.
